What sets the Boss ME-80 apart from the GT-1 isn't really its sound quality or the available effects, though the ME-80 does have a smaller bank of effects (59 compared to 108 in the GT-1) This allows different effects and amps to be assigned left and right, and can be used by switching back and forth, or run simultaneously, like a dual amp back line I have not played a GT-1 so I can't speak to it's durability, but have heard good things.
